Re-Evaluation.

As a genuine Christian, constant revaluation is an important part of living. However, by nature, we prefer self-deception, because decieving ourselves is easy and comfortable.

Lack of this re-evaluation can lead to an unhealthy amount attention to self. It makes us become so inwardly focused and self-reliant that we take our eyes off of Jesus.

One difficulty we face is that we do not always know our own hearts.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked, who can know it?

Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV)

Blunt re-evaluation must be done with the help of the Holy Spirit, who searches the deep things of the heart.

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

1 Corinthians 2:10 (KJV)

Examining ourselves in light of the truth being revealed to us from Scripture and allowing God’s Word to convict and change us helps us stay on track.

Therefore, we must humbly admit our inability to change ourselves and rely on the power of the Holy Spirit within to transform us into the image of Christ.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Romans 8:29 (KJV)
