I move around the City I reside in a lot, so I almost always have to commute with the regular transportation medium; by bus. On one of those days, I boarded a bus whose fare was higher than the regular, but I went for that option because it was getting late.

As the journey continued, the Driver kept stopping to pick up passengers at different points but he didn’t get all seats filled early enough because of the high fare. At a point, I felt he was only being unreasonable. Most buses on the same route offered moderate fares to passengers and they got their buses filled even in our presence.
[6] Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
Luke 12:6-7 (KJV)
[7] But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Was I wrong to have thought him unreasonable? The current economic situation was enough reason for the fare to be at an average price, but he only picked up passengers who could afford to pay his price until the bus was filled somewhere into the journey. Despite the pressure on all sides, he did not succumb.
This got me thinking; How could he not waver a little bit? Why couldn’t he let down his pride and go with the ‘trendy’ price? Wasn’t he scared that he wouldn’t get all seats filled even when time was obviously not on his side?
[8] We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (KJV)
[9] Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
Life will test you, people will try to undermine your worth, because even our Lord Jesus Christ got tempted of the Devil and tried by the weight of His calling. How much more you and I? The good news is that He overcame.
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)
Dear reader, how much do you know about who God has called you to be? Have you discovered and grown into His purpose for you? Has life thrown various things at you that has gotten you swayed into believing you are not worth anything?
This is a reminder to you that you are worth so much to God and His Kingdom. No matter how far you have fallen into the temptation of caving into pressure from any angle, YOU CAN OVERCOME.
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)
