Most often during sunday service when first-timers are made welcome, usually, after a brief introduction about the church and its activities, the minister and pastors will often say, “The church has a question for you” and we will all echo, ‘Where have you been?”.
The first time I went and I heard others say it, I didn’t find any significance to the question. As I attend that church whenever I’m in the area, I kept hearing them ask the same question for every first-timer until it struck me some weeks ago.

Have you ever heard of people that tried to do something, believing, that is what is required of them and after a while, they feel they aren’t in the right place, or doing the right thing even though what they are doing at the moment is good?
So many times, we try to get involved with so many things, trying to juggle two or more things together that we forget to ask ourselves some relevant questions about what exactly we are doing. Questions such as: Am I on the right structure or path? Am I doing what I am meant to do? Am I in the right place?
And to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things.
Ephesians 3:9 (ESV)
Everything might seem right but there is one that is the right one. You might have been to all the places, and done almost you can think of, yet still dissatisfied because you aren’t where you are supposed to be or doing what you are meant to do, and makes you feel like you are just passing through time.
You aren’t meant for passing the time or to feel dissatisfied, you are to love what you do and know that it is the right thing. That is why you need to check and ask, where am I? What am I doing? Where have I been? Where am I at present? What do I need to change or make room for?
That change of place or business or activities etc that you are afraid of, might be the best decision you have ever made. Check your spiritual life too, where are you? Are you growing? If not, then you need to make a positive change, get involved with the right people, programs, and fellowships, and make a change in scenery to achieve the best results you so desire.
Don’t be scared to know and ask the question ‘Where have I been’? Where you are now is a propeller of what will become of you. Deciding to make a change now might be the difference between you sitting down to enjoy the outcome regardless of how little or insignificant it might be or you could just live on to endure. So, what will it be? A change in place or a change in heart to do what it is aim to do.
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity.
2 Peter 3:18 (ESV)
