The BACKUP!

Have you ever imagined that the great men and women being read about in the scriptures lived in a world like we do today? That they each had daily routines, fears, dreams and ambitions?

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Hebrews 12:1 (KJV)

I was on my way back from an interstate journey one evening, and I had become fearful because I totally dislike night road journeys. Initially, the journey was smooth but soon, traffic started building up.

Next thing I saw was thick black smoke in the sky a distance away, and everyone started asking questions of what was happening just ahead of our vehicle. My heart started beating faster than usual when I saw vehicles taking fast u-turn away the direction we were headed in.

Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

Daniel 3:19 (KJV)

Eventually, we found out that a big fuel truck had fallen across the road and was on fire so vehicles couldn’t navigate on our side of the road. When the Driver marshalled the vehicle and approached the smoke, I was literally ‘gone’!

I started praying and trusted that as the vehicle maneuvered through the fire, we would emerge unscathed. Guess what? That was exactly what happened! In the blink of an eye, our vehicle passed through the fire and we came out victorious.

[19] Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

[25] He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

Daniel 3:19, 25 (KJV)

That incident made me think about events that occurred and were captured in the scriptures more often. The daily events you and I go through made it same for them. How would you handle tough situations life throws your way in September? Do you trust God enough to emerge unscathed?

It’s a new month and I’m sure there’s a lot you are trusting God for. Don’t be caught overwhelmed by your fears, instead commit your daily movement, interactions, transactions, and activities solely to Him and no matter what plans the enemy has mapped out for you, you will come out UNSCATHED!

Why? You have backing!

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV)
