God’s Love Language.

Few years back, I read a book written by a relationship counselor author Gary Chapman, who described ways to show love and to receive it.

He listed five distinct ways;

  • 1. Quality Time
  • 2.Words of Affirmation
  • 3.Acts of Service
  • 4. Gift.
  • 5. Physical touch.

It made me think that, like how every person has a unique way he or she receives love that is acceptable to him or her, God will probably have His own love language too.

Likewise, on another occasion, a few of us brethren discussed God’s love language. We gave our different perceptions about it, some discussed about praises and worship (words of affirmation).

Some discussed God’s selflessness (sending His only and begotten Son Jesus Christ) and some other things, but after all was said and discussed, our Sunday school teacher emphasised one crucial way God receives love from His beloveds, which is obedience.

2. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous

1 John 5:2-3 (KJV)

Obedience can be tough sometimes because many times it means taking the higher road even when there is an easy way out as an option. It requires discipline, sacrifice and stretching ourselves outside our comfort zone of self towards obeying God’s choice.

Our choice to obey God at any time therefore demonstrates our trust and confidence in God. It shows that even though its hard, even though it doesn’t make sense, we will still do it. And that’s the biggest display of love we can show God.

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 14:15 (KJV)

If God has given us His own preferred love language of (which is Obedience) then I believe we should always yield and follows His lead even when we are not sure of the outcome.

In the final analysis, we can also be assured that there are earthly and eternal blessings and rewards attached to knowing and understanding God’s love language.
