Like a Palm Tree.

There is a Palm Tree situated opposite my apartment building.

Whenever I’m outdoors relaxing in the compound, I usually gaze directly at it, and wonder how marvelous the tree seems to be with its fruitfulness.

How can one describe a palm tree?

Palm trees are a commonly found plant in my tropical country, Nigeria, and other warm regions. They have a single trunk of large leaves at the top. This trunk can be very tall, growing up to almost 200 feet (60 meters) high and having no branches, save for a mass of long, pointed leaves at the top.

The palm tree leaves can be used for thatching roofs and making baskets. The palm trunk can also used for roof constructions and some furnitures. The fruits embedded in the palm tree are edible and provide nutrients. Palm oil derived from the fruits in palm tree is also used in cooking and cosmetics.

In illustration of the Christian faith, it is expected of every believer to be fruit bearing like the palm tree. A Christian is expected to live and abide in fruitfulness according to the bible passage of Galatians 5:22-23;

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)

One who abides by and lives out this fruitfulness is regarded as “flourishing”, as scripture describes:

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Psalms 92:12 (KJV)

Choose to yield to the Spirit, bearing fruits that prove you are a follower of Christ.
