Deception

There are several human experiences, or perhaps perceptions to experiences that we all go through.

Sometimes it is happiness; the pleasantness of fulfillment and achievement, the joy of a testimony and so on. It could on the other hand be negative; the death of loved one, losing an investment, losing a job, a family or health crisis etc.

These things tend to put us through the blender and we might come of from them much differently than we went in.

There is a vulnerability we have when going through circumstances that tend towards our extremes, especially the difficult ones. There are several antics that the devil uses in those situations, I’ll share two.

One, the devil schemes to isolate or make you feel isolated. He suggests that you are the only one going through your experience(s). That no ones cares, no one understands, not even God (who apparently is busy making the life of others better).

[13] And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

[14] And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

1 Kings 19:13-14 (KJV)

Two, the Devil makes you doubt the commitment of God to you, using the passage of time as proof. Essentially, he asks, ‘if it is God, why is it taking time?’ He wants to push us into the realm of impatience. He wants to push us – out of the spirit into the flesh.

[8] And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.

[9] And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.

[10] And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him.

[13] And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.

1 Samuel 13:8-10,13 (KJV)

Whenever you find yourself being impatient and or discouraged about a matter, check and see, what is the word of the Lord. Has God spoken? If yes, believe him!

A lot of us, impatience has cheated us out of God’s provisions. This is not a call ot laziness or nonchalance, but to wait on God- and do the things you are supposed to do.

One of the ways you know it is impatient – there is a haste in your spirit, and step or action you are wanting to take is not consistent with what you already know that God is saying or asking you to do.

We have to trust God. He means us well. We can trust him.
