The Guide (II)

In the previous write-up, we discussed how God speaks to us, and highlighted the major two ways; His written word (the Scripture) and the leading of the Holy Spirit per time.

Today we dwelling on the second aspect; the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Interestingly, the surest way to recognize the Holy Spirit’s guidance is to be familiar with God’s Word as stated in 2 Timothy 3:16.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2Timothy 3:16 (KJV)

Knowledge of God’s Word helps us to discern whether or not our desires comes from the Holy Spirit.

And while He leads us through our feelings sometimes, we must test our inclinations against Scripture, because the Holy Spirit will never prod us to do anything contrary to God’s Word. If it conflicts with the Bible, then it is not from the Holy Spirit and should be ignored.

Sadly, many believers lack understanding and interpretation of God’s word. This has caused many to fall off, and is what breeds heresies today in the Body of Christ, where you see believers leaving the Holy Spirit’s wisdom and seeking human adoration and ideology.

[26] Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

[27] And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Romans 8:26–27 (KJV)

The surest path to recognizing God’s leadings and the diverse means He uses to communicate with us is by staying in Scripture, and creating a conducive environment for the Holy Spirit in our lives, allowing Him to both teach and influence us.
