Agreeing.

There is a slang trending currently; No gree for anybody, which basically implies not allowing anything or anyone stand in the way of progress that must be made.

Dear Beloved of God, while this is true, what is also true is that we have to agree with God everyday by working, walking, and talking with Him, fulfilling His mandate as part of our daily endeavours.

I make a habit of covering both the beginning and the end of each year in my communion with God, and I did it this year as well.

I asked God to impress a word upon my heart that I can reflect upon and apply in my life in the coming year, and also to reveal His will for me. I asked where in my life He is asking me to grow, continue in, or change.

Sometimes I get the answer very quickly, other times, it takes much longer to get a response. But I wait until I have one.

After I’ve received this word or phrase, I spend the first two weeks of the year dedicated to prayer, asking God how to implement His word inline to my life in the New Year.

Let’s face the reality; we are rarely successful in our own wisdom when identifying what is a good thing versus what will ultimately harm us or lead us to destruction.

God has given us some instructions in Matthew:

  1. Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
  2. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV)

God desires only good, edifying, constructive things for our lives, and as much as we want to stick to “No gree for anybody” (although it is necessary in some aspects), the truth is that we will need to ‘gree’ for God.

So whatever it is you will do or not do, there is need to ask God first, and to agree to His will, and yield to the convictions of His Spirit – because He knows best.
