During my junior high school days, my teachers made sure to enforce to us the importance of knowing formulas.
This is because in a number of subjects such as mathematics, integrated science and introduction technology, the only way on how you could solve problems was knowing the formulas to them, and memorising these formulas was necessary if one planned to major in the science or commercial classes in senior high school.

I remembered how I was also impacted by other (non-mathematical) life-hack formulas. One of these was the SMART formula; a guide for making successful life plans by making goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound.
One English dictionary defines a formula as:
“A plan or method for dealing with a problem or for achieving a result solution from the problem.”
In the Christian walk, a formula can be contextualised to mean “prescribed or set established rules; a fixed or conventional method in which anything is to be done, arranged, or said” – according to the bible dictionary.
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
2 Timothy 2:21 (KJV)
It is a desirable thing to be identified as a distinguished vessel of honour unto God, to be employed in God’s vine yard.
As born again Christians, there is need to apply the basic Christian formulas that aid in our becoming distinguished vessel of honour. Some of these “formulas” include;
Salvation (being purged and cleansed from the sin), Sanctification (the process of being purged of undesirable qualities), and Consecration (being set apart for the Master’s [God’s] service).
I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
In my next post, we shall have a more detailed discussion on more formulas to implement towards becoming an excellent vessel unto honour. Make sure not to miss it.
