Beauty from Ashes

I recently came across a video of different women who came into a barbershop with old and rough looking hair styles, weary expressions on their faces. I’m sure they had tried numerous options they knew and nothing had worked so far to make their hair condition better (if you’re a lady reading this, I’m sure you get it 😉 ).

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]

Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28 ‭‭(AMP‬‬)

The barber gave them words of comfort and some of the women got emotional, had mixed feelings about going ahead with the hair cut. They sat calmly in front of a mirror and watched as the barber carried on with his craft, their faces spelling expectations, uncertain of the outcome of the process.

Just as the barber was halfway through, he told the women to close their eyes until he was done. I thought to myself, what in the name of trust is that? I would have hesitated about closing my eyes because I prefer being involved with anything that has to do with my looks.

I mean, what if it was their first time in his shop? Weren’t they scared of the outcome?

To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.

Isaiah‬ ‭61‬:‭3 ‭‭‬(NLT‬‬)

Just as soon as he was done, he told them to open their eyes – and this was the most captivating part of the whole process for me, the women’s reactions! Emotions poured out as they beheld their transformed selves in the mirror. Some cried, some screamed and others were speechless at the beauty that had emerged from their previous states.

This reminded me of the transformation power Jesus carries. Regardless of whatever must have happened to you, how many terrible or traumatic things life has served you, there’s a place I know that everything becomes new; the Cross.

For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‭‭‬ (AMP‬‬)

I’m sure this message is for you reading this who still has certain areas in your life that you have the door shut against anyone trying to gain access because you just want to have control. When things go out of your hands, where do you turn? Who do you run to? Who would you allow to save the day?

Why not allow Jesus?

Just like those women trusted the fate of their looks into the barber’s hands, expertise, and creativity, now is the best time for you to be transformed from your current level of glory to the next level. Say this prayer right now:

Prayer of Surrender

Lord Jesus, I hand over every area of my life to you. I’m tired of being in charge and steering the wheel. Take charge of my boat. That my life may bring you glory all the days of my existence. Amen!

I celebrate with you! Now, all you have to do is trust Him consistently and let Him lead you. Shalom!
