Song Review: THE HEALER by The Talleys

The Talleys were a southern gospel trio composed of Roger and Debra Talley, and their daughter Lauren Talley as the lead and soprano singer. For over 20 years they performed, making appearances all over the world.

At the end of 2020 Roger and Debra retired as singers and Lauren began singing full time as a soloist at the start of 2021.

The song The Healer (originally written by Gerald Crabb), was released in 2002 on the Talleys’ album Hope for Tomorrow and was No. 1 on the singing News chart for two consecutive months.

The song was composed from Luke 8:43-48 (KJV):

[43] And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

[44] Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

The song is a very powerful one. It brings to life the tenacious faith of the woman who needed healing and the awesome power of Jesus Christ.

The woman was in a very dire and helpless situation, she had a flow of blood that had lasted for 12 years! She was also said to have spent all she had upon physicians. So, she was sick and the sickness had made her poor.

Despite her helpless situation, she refused to listen to the discouraging remarks of other sick people like her that claimed that the crowd was too much for Christ to see them. But she didn’t want to be seen, she just wanted to be touched!

Are you faced with a seemingly helpless and hopeless situation, or are you suffering from sicknesses in any form? Maybe you have even prayed and believed God about it – but still it looks like nothing is happening.

The lines of the song say “Though Satan says give up, you’re close to your miracle, Jesus is passing your way. God’s still in business and does the impossible, sending down blessings each day.”

Do not allow discouragement to hold you down. Like the woman with the issue of blood, hold on to your faith in God, trust him wholeheartedly and be on the lookout because “The Healer is Passing Your Way!”
