Mártus Unfazed

I have always been fascinated by the fear that grips people who have to be a witness for scary or dangerous people and events. You know, the type we see in movies, where a Terrorist is on trial and it’s difficult to get witnesses for the case because they feel insecure or unsafe? Yeah, those.

But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.

‭‭Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬ ‭(AMP‬‬)

In legal terms, a Witness is someone who heard or saw something related to a particular event being tried in court. Usually, once a witness is involved in a case there’s a stronger chance of the case being resolved or a verdict being made.

Now, imagine that a Witness has more than just information. Imagine this Witness has indisputable evidence for the case which he or she was summoned to testify for or against. What do you think would happen?

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬ ‭(AMP‬‬)

As Christians our mission here on earth is to preach the gospel to everyone we come across, regardless of their race, religious stance, background, tribe or tongue. Jesus commanded you and I to be witnesses; to tell people about Him no matter where we travel to.

I boarded a vehicle with an aged woman who, judging by movement and speech, seemed really frail. The moment the vehicle was in motion, she said in her indigenous language, “Can we all close our eyes as we pray?”

I was intrigued by that one action and immediately I watched closely to hear her speak. She witnessed from the beginning of her journey till the moment she alighted! She preached the gospel – and her life, it would seem, was a testament to her words. I was challenged in my spirit!

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

With the great mission we were given to carry out, God made provision for us by the promise of His Spirit which would be our ability to witness. So when next you plan to speak to someone about the coming, life, deeds, death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, ask for the Holy Spirit to help you. Whether you are scared or not, always remember He is your ability.

Speaking from a place of personal experience about your encounter with Jesus also shines light to how your life is a living proof and testament of the transformational power of a life rooted in Christ. Don’t be ashamed of the gospel, it is a mandate that should be spread across every nook and cranny of the earth until men, women and children come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12‬:‭11‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

Dear believer, it’s about time you witness to the world through your words, actions, and personal encounters. Don’t be scared, don’t be intimidated or discouraged. God is with you.

Shalom!
