Our Present Help.

In my country in the West African region, there have recently been rising tensions. Citizens – the youth, most especially – have raised demands from the ruling civilian government with regards to the state of the economy.

I have even been accosted by my fellow citizens in diaspora, with questions like “Are you really financially stable with all that’s going on?” (This question has become one of the most recurring ones.)

Generally speaking, life is a turbulent journey which poses numerous challenges that can shake any individual’s foundations and growth, and as a believer, there will be various situations where and reasons why you will need God’s help.

A good example of someone who went through numerous difficulties is Joseph. Sold by his brothers into slavery and falsely accused of sexual harassment by his master’s wife, his was a journey of one who faced several challenges – and yet experienced God’s present help at every junction, until he faced a revolutionary breakthrough.

[1] I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
[2] My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth

Psalm 121:1-2 (KJV)

The ‘present help’ the Bible speaks of is beyond all human thoughts and machinations. It is not one you trust yourself or another man for. It is the type Joseph received; a help which comes from God Himself.

There are ways to be qualified for this help;

  • Putting away unrighteous (sinful) acts.
  • Acknowledging that God’s help and mercy is always available to His beloveds.
  • Asking for help and trusting God for it.
  • Not forsaking gathering of the brethren, and keeping close the right circle of other believers.

The help of God is the Believer’s guarantee for victory in both the journey of life and fulfilling destiny. Secure it today and be delight in His blessings!

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

Psalm 146:5 (KJV)
