THE DISCONNECTED CHARGER

Some months ago, there was no electricity in my area, so we had to opt for using a generator. I knew that on Sundays a generator will always be available, so I planned on charging my phone in church.

On a particular Sunday when the generator was put on, I plugged my phone with the thought that it was charging. A few minutes after plugging it in, I was prompted to check on it again, but I didn’t.

After a while, the generator suddenly went off and we couldn’t turn it back on again until the end of the service. On unplugging my phone, I noticed that it didn’t charge at all because the charger wasn’t well connected to the socket!

We believers are often like this; we feel we are still connected to God, not knowing that we have disconnected ourselves from Him. Sometimes, we have promptings to ‘recharge’, but they are often neglected because things seem to be going fine as usual.

Many have been disconnected as a result of sin or carelessness, and their hearts are no longer in tune with God. The miracles, healings, words of knowledge – and so on – are still flowing when, in fact, the connection has been lost.

Often times, we see the raising of hands, the mouths that speak various “tongues”, but with little or nothing to show forth. They are doing it for men to see, their hearts aren’t with the source.

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

Matthew 15: 8 (KJV)

How well are you connected? Do you feel the Spirit’s promptings and nudging? What’s your response to them? How much longer do you want to ignore them?

The mobile devices we use are charged daily, and we often go extra mile to ensure that our phones (and laptops) are always on and available. If we can do so much for a earthly thing, how much more the spiritual?

The disconnection was first from Adam;

And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Genesis 3:9-10 (KJV)

Praise God, however! This was rectified by our saviour, Jesus;

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:18a (KJV)

Therefore, there is no excuse to remain in that state of perpetual disconnection. It’s the desire of God to see us staying fully plugged to Him as He wants a relationship with us. All you just need is to yield to Him, be attentive, stay the course and go the extra mile to ensure the connection stays sure.

Disconnection strays you away from the path but staying connected keeps you from straying.

Are you disconnected or do you feel you are? God is beckoning on you, yield to His call.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Revelations 3:20 (KJV)
