What exactly goes through your mind when you fall? I’m talking about those moments when you unexpectedly lose your balance or miss a step, and next thing you know; boom! You’re on the floor.

Not exactly a fun experience, right? I agree.
The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
Psalm 37:23-24 (NIV)
Recently, I stepped out of the house to buy something nearby. It had just rained, and the ground was wet. I was in a hurry to get back to my evening routine. The moment I made payment and turned to head home, it happened!
I slipped, but I didn’t fall. In those brief seconds, I could hear my heart pounding. My mind raced with thoughts: I really don’t want to get hurt or end up covered in mud. That moment took me back to God’s promise:
For He will command His angels in regard to you, to protect and defend and guard you in all your ways [of obedience and service]. They will lift you up in their hands, so that you do not [even] strike your foot against a stone.
Psalm 91:11-12 (AMP)
It’s easy to think that God’s Word only applies to the “big” things in life; major challenges, heartbreaks, or spiritual battles – but His promises aren’t limited to complex situations.
Whether it’s the frustration of missing a step or navigating the stormy seasons of life, His Word covers everything. Even in the simplest, most “ordinary” moments like slipping on a rainy day, He is present, faithful, and protective.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
God’s Word reminds us that no situation, big or small, is beyond His care. We may slip, but He ensures we don’t fall beyond recovery. Life will try to make His promises seem irrelevant, but they are just as true in the simple moments as they are in the storms.
So, the next time life throws you off balance, remember: He’s got you! His angels are there, His promises are sure, and His love is unfailing; whether you slip, stumble, or stride forward confidently.
Shalom!
