Escape for thy Life

Beautiful to behold, as pleasures soared within,
With eyes closed, I inhaled the fragrance
The fragrance sought was a mix with stench
As I see graves of rotten stenches

“Come, join us!” Jimmy says. “This is the best phase of our lives, time to enjoy.”

“So you say, but what about after?” Jibolu retorts.

“Which ‘after’ are you talking about? Come on, stop all this. We live this life only once, don’t throw away your life because of this Christianity nonsense.”

“It is not nonsense, I just want to live my life for God.”

Jimmy laughs.

“You joining does not mean you cannot live for God now, just that you will mix it up little here and a little there.”

“Doesn’t that change things?” Jibolu ask contemplatively.

“It changes nothing guy, you will just combine it.”

“Well, I do need a change really, but…..”

My Son, if sinners entice you, consent thou not.

Proverbs 1:10 (KJV)

We are living in a world where many things want to lure us away from God, in a race where war is waged between the pleasures of life and the things of God.

Many have been easily swayed by what goes on, thinking ‘this is the time to enjoy life’. They have forgotten;

Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.

Ecclesiastes 12: 1 (KJV)

They live life as they want and feel. Some will say, it’s just a small dose after all I didn’t take all. Being a Christian is not a matter of splitting our lives into halves neither does it involve sitting on the fence. It is about total surrender to the Lord, irrespective of whatever might be happening.

[15] And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

[16] And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

Gen 19: 15-16 (KJV)

Lot could have been destroyed along with the people of Sodom and Gomorrah because he lingered. He did that because of the pleasures, enjoyment and accomplishments he had accumulated in Sodom, but, by God’s Grace, he was saved.

You don’t have to linger. The pleasure you seek after, last just for a while, and hanging around them may cause you to get burnt.

Where have you lingered? Don’t stay, escape for thy life! In lingering, there is destruction.
