One-On-One.

There is a universal phenomenon that every child of God must know how to practice: Prayer.

Prayer is a universal phenomenon that cuts across all religions, races, and ages. But Biblically, prayer is what Christians are to practice and faithfully work within each person’s individual relationship with God.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV)

God is a prayer-answering God. His children called upon Him, both in the Old and New Testaments, and He answered them. Even to the generation of our forefathers, those that called upon Him were answered. So, in our own generation, if we call upon God, He will definitely answer us!

The goal of prayer isn’t to get things, though. The goal of your fellowship with the Heavenly Father is to get to Him on a personal basis; to know His heart and to do His will.

A song from my childhood goes like this;

Prayer is the key,
Prayer is the key,
Prayer is the master key.
Jesus started with prayers,
and ended with prayers,
Prayer is the master key.

You may have encountered some situations and circumstances where, without a doubt, something was happening in the spirit realm. Life is spiritual and the believer’s response should be spiritual.

This is why it is essential for believers to hold family prayers (i.e family devotion) in their various homes, and why there are general church prayers and services dedicated to prayer.

O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

Psalms 65:2 (KJV)

However, it is not enough to participate in prayers on these corporate levels alone. A believer must make up his or her mind to get into their own ‘closet’ and get One-On-One with God.
