Eulogeo

Have you ever wondered what God says about you behind your back? You’ve heard about when God was “gisting” Satan about Job behind Job’s back. What could He possibly be saying behind yours?

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

Ephesians 1:3 (NKJV)

In translating this epistle from the original Greek to English, one of the things lost in translation was the wordplay Apostle Paul did with the root word Eulogeo, which was translated into the different forms of blessings and blessedness seen in the above verse.

The second “blessed” in particular was translated directly from the root word Eulogeo, which etymologically translates to good + speak = speak good or to speak good of someone.

All of this amateur Greek grammar is to answer the question of what God is saying behind your back: God is speaking well of you behind your back. When we come before the Throne of Grace, He calls us blessed. When we rise with mercy and go about our daily activities, He still speaks well of us—He still calls us blessed.

Still don’t believe me? Ask John the Baptist.

Penned up in Herod’s cell for God knows how long, he began to have second thoughts about Jesus the Messiah. If this said Messiah couldn’t save him from a local principality, how did He plan on saving the people of Israel from the all-conquering Roman Empire of that time? Things weren’t adding up for John, so he sent His disciples to ask Jesus for updates.

Jesus, in a way that John the Baptist would clearly understand, reminded him that He (Jesus), for that dispensation, was the Lamb who was to take away the sins of the world. Yet in the next breath, Jesus declares John the Baptist to be the greatest man to ever walk the face of the Earth at the time.

It’s the same way God looks at us, looks at our weak frame and our ever-ready-to-perish body of clay, and yet sees a being of inestimable value; a being worthy of every possible spiritual blessing at His disposal.

God looks at you, His child, and sees a blessed person. He also calls you a blessed person. Why would you call yourself otherwise? God speaks well of you; why would you speak ill of yourself?

Are you gonna make it? God thinks you will (terms and conditions apply however); why would you think otherwise??

Agree with God’s assessment of you this year.
