Dear believer, you are called.

There are times when we struggle with our new identity in Christ. Some may even think it is humble to downplay what God whispers to them about who they are and what He wants to do with their lives, especially when their circumstances still seem ‘old’.
The truth is, if our hearts do not align with who God has called us to be, we can never rise to the level of that assignment.
In Romans 8:28, Scripture reveals that we have been called according to the purpose of God. God had an intention for us even before we were created; He has a destiny and an end in mind for each of us. There is a certain kind of person we ought to become, and there are specific things we are meant to do. Therefore, we must understand our identity in Him and the particulars of our individual purposes.
To be called means to be invited or summoned. This term is particularly used to describe the Divine call to partake in the blessings of redemption. Calling speaks to our nature and our destiny; it signifies God’s invitation to humanity to accept the benefits of salvation.
We have been called to partake in the divine nature and to accept all that Christ has made available through salvation, including the good works we are meant to accomplish.
Apart from our Lord Jesus Christ (His name be praised forever), Apostle Paul is an example of someone who walked boldly in his calling. In the opening of many of Paul’s letters, we often see phrases like: “Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God.”
His calling is clearly articulated in Romans 15:15-16 and Acts 26:16-18, where we see that he was chosen to take the gospel to the Gentiles, to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Christ.
One of the key ways to discover our calling is through the Word and prayer. This is why Apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesians:
I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the glorious riches of His inheritance among the saints
Ephesians 1:17-18 HCSB).
We need revelation knowledge from God to truly understand who we are in Christ and to walk in the reality of these revelations.
Finally, although we have been saved by grace, we are also saved to do good works. Unless we rise to the level of our calling, we cannot fulfill the purpose and vision of God for our lives.
I pray that we will walk worthy of the calling to which we have been called, that we may be fruitful in every good work, and may increase in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

Thank you for the timely reminder and call to action.
