As far as your eyes can see
You cannot take what you can’t see
Seeing is not just by the physical
You should see with the eyes of faith
Have you noticed that when you see a particular thing that draws your attention, you start craving those things?

I recently started paying attention to what fuels my cravings and desires. I realised I started thinking about a style because I have seen it multiple times. I bought suya (steak) on a particular day because some days before, I was in a place where the best suya spot in town was discussed.
Recently, my Pastor has been emphasizing “seeing”. It’s through the eyes of our mind that God shows us pictures that will arouse our desire and stimulate our appetite towards what He has for us.
There is this theory called the “red car theory”. This theory suggests that once you notice something specific, like a red car, you start seeing it everywhere. It’s often used to explain the phenomenon of selective attention, where once you become aware of something, you tend to notice it more frequently.
Similarly, God often shows us the future through pictures so that we will pay attention to what He has provided for us.
At some point after Abraham’s separation from Lot, God told him, “As far as your eyes can see, I am going to give all this land to your children as a possession”. He continued by saying that his descendants would be like the dust. God needed Abraham to see to birth some level of conviction in him and draw his attention to what He had prepared for Him, just like seen in the red car theory.
And the LORD said to Abram after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are–northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you
Genesis 13:14-17; NKJV
This also means that how far Abraham can see will determine what he will possess. We can, therefore, infer as children of Abraham ourselves through Christ that what we have is dependent on how much we see in God. Hallelujah!!!
One of the old prophets in Habakkuk said “I will stand on my watch and watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected”. This means that Habakkuk is waiting on God to see, not just hear, what God will tell him.
You see, having vision boards is not bad, but what we conceive in our thoughts to have, God is more than able to do exceeding abundantly above them. He is unlimited and all things are possible with Him. We must learn to ask Him to show us first so that we can see what He has for us.
He decides the boundaries of every man. He is with our blueprints. Hence, we have to trust Him enough to seek Him to understand and know what He has for us.
Our Lord Jesus Christ, that great example, did the same thing. Thank God for the book of John that paid close attention to His Sonship, showing us a pattern of Son we must follow as joined heirs ourselves.
In the book of John, Jesus said what He sees the Father do is what He does. This means that everything we see Him do is just a replication of what He sees the Father doing.
I think this is very important in this day because the truth is: we can build without God.
We are in the age of information, and we can follow the 10 steps to success from chat GPT or any motivational speakers. But we must be careful as believers because the standard of the Lord hasn’t changed.
He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is still very much concerned about us building our lives according to His pattern. This might sometimes feel restrictive but this is the only way He can be glorified.
When Moses was building the Tabernacle in the wilderness, one of the things scripture kept emphasizing was his building according to the pattern God showed him. At the end of the book of Exodus, the glory of the Lord descended on the Tabernacle because He built it according to specification as instructed by God.
For God’s glory to be fully revealed, we have to see what He is doing and replicate here on earth. Little wonder Jesus spending time in prayer was highlighted about 12 times in the book of Mark—to show us a pattern that Jesus had to spend that time to connect with God, be refreshed and know exactly what to do for each day.
Brethren, our eyes are for seeing. Our spiritual eyes must be open. We must see what God is calling us to do through the eyes of faith so that we can reflect His glory just as He has commissioned us.
God has great and precious promises for you, but it takes you “seeing” them to receive them in the physical.
My prayer is this:
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power. He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 1:17-21

May the LORD give us seeing eyes.
