Whose Report?

Some time ago, I had a health scare that really troubled me. The words of the doctor were far from kind, which heightened my fear.

When I got home, I told my mum what had been said with tears streaming down my face. She looked at me and said firmly, “That’s not your report.” Then she held my hands and prayed. I wiped my tears, strengthened myself in faith, and began to rebuke that negative report.

After some time, I went back for my appointment. The doctor who attended to me said, “I can’t find anything.” I tried to explain what the previous doctor had said, but he calmly addressed all my concerns.

After much back and forth, he looked at me sternly and said, “Whose report do you believe?” Immediately, peace filled my heart. I accepted the positive result and thanked God.

Often, when we hear something negative or receive a bad report, fear grips us so strongly that we start to live under its shadow. We become overwhelmed, focusing on the problem instead of the person who can solve it; God.

When twelve men were sent to spy out the land of Canaan, they all saw the land flowing with milk and honey. Yet, because of the giants they saw, ten of them believed they could not possess it. They magnified the power of the giants and forgot the power of the God who sent them.

[32] And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature.

[33] And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”

Numbers 13:32–33 (KJV)

It’s normal to feel fear when faced with challenges, but we must not give fear authority over us. Fear may come, but faith must stay. We have been given the power and authority in Christ to change any situation or report.

What report are you hearing today? What negativity surrounds you? This is not the time to accept defeat, it’s the time to change the narrative.

The only report that truly matters is what God has said concerning you. Do not allow any evil report to define you; only the Word of God has the power to shape your destiny.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:17 (KJV)

Be that man or woman who wields his or her power in Christ rightly. Stand firm in faith, speak God’s Word, and believe His report, for His report is final.
