Nearly every Christian faces challenges that can lead to discouragement, weakness, or backsliding.
However, as the saying goes, “falling is not failing”.
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
Proverbs 24:16 (KJV)

There are easy ‘traps’ into spiritual decline that include (but are not restricted to) the following:
- Neglecting prayer and fellowship with other believers
- Inconsistent study of God’s Word
- Hidden sins and worldly distractions
- The pain of yet-to-be-answered prayers unmet expectations
- Lack of accountability
However, if you find yourself still battling with any of the above, don’t be afraid. God’s heart for us as His beloved is not condemnation but restoration of hope, unto His promises.
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
Psalm 103:8 (KJV)
When you find yourself in a spiritual decline of any sort, instead of panicking or self-pity, here are some simple, actionable steps you can take.
1. Examine yourself:
Every believer should engage in regular, honest self-reflection, especially in situations like these. This usually reveals what or might be the cause, so you can deal with the root of the problem.
Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.
Lamentations 3:40 (KJV)
2. Reconnect with God:
This involves confession, renewing the heart through prayer and scripture, seeking godly counsel, and spiritual discipline (through accountability to other brethren, and setting up a structure that keeps you safe). God promises forgiveness and cleansing to those who return sincerely.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 (KJV)
3. Rise again in Faith:
With humility, perseverance, and trust, spiritual strength is restored. So, walk forward with renewed purpose. Who the Son sets free is free indeed!
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Psalm 23:3 (KJV)
The key thing to keep in mind during your recovery process is remembering that every fall is a step toward rising stronger in Christ.
Therefore it is essential to trust God, commit to growth, and keep moving forward.

A message of hope…
