Diligence in Waiting.

Have you ever felt as though God doesn’t know about the problems you are facing? As cliché as this sounds, the truth is that He does, He just wants you to exercise patience as He manifests His glory.

In John 11, Martha sent a message ahead to Jesus that His friend Lazarus was sick, but instead of Jesus coming quickly, what did He do? He tarried yet two more days. His tarrying for the two days might not have seemed necessary, but He did it so that men might come into the knowledge of the power of God. Jesus came after four days that Lazarus had been buried. His friend’s body had already started decaying, yet He came. He didn’t just come, He called him forth and resurrected him, and people marveled.

It was never written whether Jesus wanted to save Lazarus instantly, but it was written that He ‘delayed’ so that through Lazarus’ story God’s glory would be manifested.

There are some things that God ‘delays’ to do, not because He can’t give quick, immediate answer but because of the magnitude of the manner in which the answer will come.

So many of us feel entitled to God. Once there is a slight delay, we are quick to grumble, mumur and complain. We think, “He must do [this and this], after all I am serving Him”. Yes, He can do it and even more, but you must be careful never to use your service as a bribe.

The Lord is good to those who hope in him, to the person who seeks him. It’s good to wait in silence for the Lord’s deliverance. It’s good for a man to carry a yoke in his youth.

Lamentations 3:25-27 (KJV)

Don’t be in a haste to grumble against God or doubt Him, rather stay true to Him because He hasn’t forgotten you. Be patient and see how God will show forth His glory.

But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

It is in our patience and diligence in waiting that His glory is revealed for all to see.
