Helping Hands.

A lot of people are fond of this; they are made aware of the concerning or pressing needs of others around them and spend all their time helping and building others up, in the process often neglect their own needs.

As a result, many become insensitive to their own needs. They fail to refresh and nurture themselves, consumed instead by a drive to nurture others. And so they running after other people, building and encouraging other people, while they suffer and wallow in pains.

Helping others, sacrificing for others and putting others first are very good and important things to practice, but the truth of the matter is that a well can only give out water if it firstly has water. When your house or vineyard is not kept or nurtured, it will either suffer or die and when that happens, what remains is hollowness and emptiness, which is no good to anyone.

Therefore, before getting to that level or state of emptiness, it is very crucial that we learn to take breaks; that we learn to nurture ourselves.

For every man shall bear his own burden.

Galatians 6:5 (KJV)

Don’t get so caught up with the affairs of others that you forget to check yourself, to check if your ‘vineyard’ is still flourishing. And if it is already beginning to suffer, take this as a gentle reminder that it is up to you to ensure it flourishes.

As you are taking care of other ‘vineyards’, don’t forget to take care of yours. Take care of yourself.

Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:2 (KJV)

It is only those who are full, who are well served, that can serve others the best way.
