Perfect Love

I never tire of learning about God’s love. It’s just like the hymn writer elaborates:

“Wonderful story of love! Tell it to me again;
Wonderful story of love! Wake the immortal strain.
Angels with rapture announce it, Shepherds with wonder receive it;
Sinner, O won’t you believe it? Wonderful story of love!”

It’s really a wonderful story that I never tire of hearing or of telling. It’s so wonderful that some find it too good to be true, but best believe that God’s love is realer than anything we know or experience.

[7] Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.
[8] But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Romans 5:7-8 (NLT)

It’s hard to think that a person would die for another—even for an upright person, let alone someone who is less than an especially good person. NKJV translates verse 8 quoted above thus: “…God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

This is Love, demonstrated in the gracious act of God reaching out to us before we ever realised that we needed Him and in a state where we definitely were not deserving of Him. There is no greater love or stronger commitment than to lay down one’s life for another (Cf- John 15:13 AMP).

No human emotion can beat this. In fact, one secret to having fulfilling human relationships is to have first encountered God’s perfect love and then expressing it similarly to others.

Jesus said in John 15:12 (AMP): This is My commandment, that you love and unselfishly seek the best for one another, just as I have loved you. The depth of this instruction is seen when we consider the way Jesus loves us, and that we are to love each other just the same.

See what an incredible quality of love the Father has shown to us, that we would [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

1 John 3:1 (AMP)

What manner of love!

It is so great that we are given the opportunity to be children of God—and that is who we are when we come to know His love and respond by believing and receiving Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, seeking to love Him in return by heeding His Word and keeping His commands.

For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:16 (AMP)

God’s intention for man is salvation and eternal life through His son Jesus Christ, whom He gave as an act of His love; His great and perfect love. Will you believe that today?

Will you believe in Him?

    Profound! Only when we learn the love of God for what it is, can we then live a life towards ourselves and others.
