Building Or Tearing Down

In honour of International Women’s Day, we will discuss two types of women; the wise and the foolish. There is a kind of woman who is called ‘wise’, and another kind called ‘foolish.’ The former is a builder and the later is one who tears down.

Every wise woman encourages and builds up her family, but a foolish woman over time will tear it down by her own actions.

Proverbs 14:1 (TPT)

In due season, every woman will have a home and she will either be a builder or one who tears down. To the woman or the lady growing into a woman, I’m sure you will like to be a builder and not one who tears down!

In building a physical structure, materials like blocks, sand, cement, water, gravel will be needed. These are a few out of the many things needed in building a physical structure.

As women, we possess the capacity to either build or tear down with our words and our works/actions—these are our building materials; words and works/actions.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it will be a good one for us to intentionally decide to be builders, rather than those who tear down the home(s) God has given or will give us.

If you are a lady/woman who didn’t have the best example of a builder/a wise woman while growing up, you can still be a one. You just need to ask:

And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace.

James 1:5 (TPT)

Also, if you are a lady/woman who had an example of a wise woman while growing up, be grateful to God for that, follow the godly example and trust God to do better.

Do not be frustrated by what is going on in your home and begin to tear it down with your words and actions, instead decide to build with words and actions in wisdom.

Her teachings are filled with wisdom and kindness as instruction pours from her lips.

Proverbs 31:26 (TPT)

Finally, as a woman, you don’t have to wait till you have a husband and/or children before you build. Wherever you find yourself, in whatever setting, decide to be one whose words are filled with wisdom, one who builds the lives around her with words and actions in wisdom.

Trust me, when you decide to walk in God’s way—the way of wisdom—there is grace for you!
