Dear Mothers.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, is one of the most revered women in the Christian faith. Her selfless sacrifices and unwavering faith serve as a powerful example for mothers everywhere (Luke 1:26-38).

When the angel Gabriel announced that Mary would bear a son named Jesus (who would be the Saviour of the world), she accepted the challenge, despite the risks and uncertainties she would encounter. Her courageous response was;

Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.

Luke 1:38 (KJV)

This demonstrated her trust in God’s plan.

Mary’s sacrifices continued; she faced the eventuality of ridicule and shame due to her unplanned pregnancy; she traveled to Bethlehem while pregnant, only to find no room at the inn; she gave birth to Jesus in a humble manger.

As Jesus grew, she watched him face opposition, persecution, and, ultimately, crucifixion. How her heart must have ached as she stood at the foot of the cross, witnessing her son’s sacrifice for humanity’s salvation!

Yet, throughout her life, Mary demonstrated remarkable faith, obedience, and sacrifice. 

Mary’s example inspires mothers everywhere to trust God’s plan, even in uncertain circumstances, and to ensure they do their best to nurture the children the LORD has put in their care, building them up to be all they were created to be.

In honour, I pay a salutary tribute to Jesus mother, who serves as an exemplary model and as the forerunner to all Christian mothers.

Your wisdom, sacrifices, and unconditional love,
lay a foundation for generations to come.

You’re the first teacher, nurturer of destinies divine.
A blessing to humanity, a precious sight.

A blessing to family, a love that won’t cease.
As you fulfill your motherly duties with care
Remember, your children are shaped by your influence
Raise them in God’s ways, teach them love and faith
Instill purity, integrity, and purpose in their hearts’ depth
May God bless you richly, rewarding your labor of love.
