Drifting Hearts

Sometimes, without even realizing it, we start to drift. One fear here, one delay there, and suddenly, our hearts begin to question what we once believed so boldly.

We know we’re God’s children, yet we find ourselves living like strangers to His promises. Fear quietly replaces faith, and instead of standing in confidence, we tiptoe around hope, unsure if it still belongs to us.

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭15‬‭‭ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

When fear creeps in, it’s not more striving we need, it’s nourishment. Our soul grows faint when we stop feeding it with God’s Word.

And while may still hear snippets and quotes in sermons and online, nothing replaces sitting with the Word and letting it sink in. It’s in that space that courage rises again and the cloud of fear begins to give way.

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭4‭‭‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

So if fear has made you feel like you’ve lost your place, come back to His presence. Open the Word — even if your hands feel weak — read slowly and sit with the truth. Let it feed you again because in the presence of His promises, fear loses its grip.

You’ve stayed away for too long. Come back home.

Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.

Jeremiah‬ ‭15‬:‭16‭‭‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

Shalom.
