Walking In Gratitude (4)

To maintain a lifestyle of gratitude, we need only four words:

In everything give thanks…

1 Thessalonians 5:18a (KJV)

When the sun shines hot or the rain falls hard – give thanks.

When the table is full, scanty or empty – give thanks.

When you are strong or when your strength fails you – give thanks.

When men come to your aid or  when they are helpless, too – give thanks.

When the waiting is getting too long or God’s answer your request is a big fat NO – give thanks.

Thanksgiving must be our lifestyle. Our response to every situation, our melodies sang sweetly to God’s hearing.

We must choose gratitude always (even on hard days), pray for the grace to walk in it (for by strength shall no man prevail), influence and encourage others to do so (as God’s light-bearers dispelling the darkness of ingratitude).

A consistent walk in gratitude is possible. Constantly rejoicing and praising God, rejoicing with those who rejoice even when we mourn is possible.

It’s not [only] in the loud shouts and sounds of musical instruments, but the posture of the heart overflowing with gratitude God; judging Him as faithful, true and always good — regardless of circumstances that be.

Give thanks with your affirmation of God’s word and promises, your obedience, your continued commitment to God, your smile, your ‘thank you’s, your quiet praise, your dance, your instruments of music, and loud, joyful shouts.

[1] Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
[2] Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
[3] Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; praise Him with the lute and harp!
[4] Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
[5] Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
[6] Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!

Psalm 150 (NKJV)

In all seasons, give thanks and rejoice evermore!

If in the course of journeying with me on this series, your eyes have been opened to your ingratitude to God and men, like me, do the right thing: confess your sins, make amends and commit to henceforth choose gratitude always.

May the Lord keep our hearts fixed on gratitude in all seasons in Jesus name, amen.
