One thing I pray we never lose is the willingness to pause in every season of life and ask God a deeper question: “Lord, what are You trying to build in me through this season?”
Believers often pray for God to change our circumstances, to open another a door, answer a prayer, remove a difficulty, or bring a waiting season to an end.
Sometimes, however, God is doing something far more significant than changing what is happening around us; He is changing what is happening within us.

Not every season is about receiving something. Seasons can also be about becoming someone.
God may be developing greater patience in you. He may be teaching you discernment. He may be strengthening your courage. He may be grounding your faith. He may be teaching you complete dependence on Him. He may be helping you become secure in the person He created you to be.
Let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
James 1:4 (KJV)
What feels like a delay may actually be preparation. What feels like a closed door may be protection. What feels like an unanswered prayer may be an opportunity for God to deepen your faith and reshape your character.
We become so focused on waiting on God, asking, “When will this season end?” — forgetting to ask, “What is God teaching me while I am in it?”
There are lessons that can only be learned in waiting. There is strength that can only be developed through adversity. There is a deeper level of trust in God that is often formed when we have no choice but to depend on Him.
Paul reminds us how important suffering can be:
Tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.
Romans 5:3-4 (KJV)
So, if you are currently walking through a difficult, uncertain, or seemingly stagnant season, do not assume that nothing is happening. God may be working deeply in you, even when you cannot yet see Him working through your circumstances.
One day, you may look back and realise that the very season you desperately wanted to escape was the season God used to develop the faith, wisdom, patience, courage, and character you needed for what came next.
Can you honestly ask yourself; What is God developing in me in this particular season of my life? (Is He teaching you patience? Building your faith? Strengthening your character? Teaching you surrender? Preparing you for something you cannot yet see? Developing your discernment?)
You may not understand the season today, but one day you may thank God for what He built in you while you were waiting.
Whatever this season may be, trust the process, remain faithful, and keep your eyes on God.
