Disabling Pressure Forces

Every person’s calling or destiny has a peculiar way it has been programmed, specifically pertaining to him/her.

Whatever you do that is making you to complain or causing you pains and joylessness persistently variably implies is not for you, because an individual can never be enabled to thrive in a place that is not their calling.

This is not to downplay the place of discipline and hard work – successful people didn’t find themselves up there in a day; it took them several years of commitment they took towards their assignment in the wilderness before coming into limelight.

And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to everyman according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

Matthew 25:15 (KJV)

There are many people despising their talents and assignments in life because they feel it’s inferior or not effective enough. They only want to be like that ready-made person they see making impact (who discovered his/her gift(s), and deliberately developed it into something great). If they had been a “photocopy” of another man one may not like them.

In a sermon, Pastor E. A. Adeboye shared a similar experience of his; When he was still fresh in the ministry, he felt his gentle way of preaching was boring. He had a friend then with an evangelical function who shouted and jumped up and during ministrations. According to him, by the time the man asked you to shout “a thunderous hallelujah”, the sleep in your eyes would vanish.

He started to copy this his friend, but alas, before he got halfway in his messages, his voice was gone! After experiencing this several times, coupled with stress, he told himself “Oga, you’re a pastor, not an evangelist”, and reverted back to the original. And that’s the voice multitude troop out to listen to today, wherever he goes.

The success of anyone is not just in the number of hours spent working, but by working with your God-given assignments and with the terms and conditions of your destiny.

Be wise. Choose to not become a shadow of another man. As the saying goes: When noticing pressure, disable the force, and follow your lane!

  1. May God help us to maintain our lane, appreciate God for uniqueness and focus on our process/preparation rather than the results of others.
