A family is the smallest unit of society. A community of a husband, wife and their children, and God’s will is for every child to be born and raised in a whole, godly and healthy family.
However, and as a result of the fall of man, this is not the case for everyone; pregnancies out of wedlock, troubled or broken homes and spousal demise have deprived a lot of children of this great gift of a sound and bubbling family.
Still, this is no excuse for us as believers to ignore the great gift a sound and healthy family brings to a child.
Yes, a child from a single-parent household or broken home can turn out well, but children have higher chances of having memorable childhoods and becoming well-balanced adults when they grow in healthy homes with both Mom and Dad present and in love.
No child enjoys the struggles of an unhappy or unhealthy home. A happy and healthy home does not create traumatic or unhappy childhoods.
Creating a joyful, godly and healthy home for our kids or future kids does not happen by wishing or complaining about the quality of spouses society offers or the failures of our own parents.
As believers, we cannot voluntarily choose to be single parents — bringing a child into this world outside of a whole and godly home because of selfish ambitions, desires or fears. That is not God’s original plan.
Nonetheless, situations of life or mistakes made in moments of weakness may bring us into such circumstances, and when that is the case, God is able to help us make our homes safe and healthy for the seeds He has blessed us with.
There may be difficulties or hurdles on our path, but as we submit to God’s grace and guidance, He will lead us into possibilities that, without Him were unattainable.
Every child deserves to enjoy the blessedness of a happy and healthy home in their lifetime. A home they can always come back to no matter how wide they travel or how lost they get. A home where Christ is King and love is freely given.
A home of parents with healed spirits and souls.
Your kids deserve to see, experience and live with the healed version of you, not the young girl still bleeding from traumas and, as a result, hurting them too.
It begins with:
Humbling yourself enough to learn to be a great spouse and an awesome parent, because the foundation to becoming a great parent is being a great spouse.
Submitting yourself to be healed, and stay committed in prayer, the study of the word and fellowship beholding the Lord till He is
formed in you.
Being intentional about choosing a worthy spouse fit to build a godly and loving home.
Being intentional about building a home where your child will feel safe spiritually, emotionally and physically.
Staying ever ready to learn, unlearn and relearn godly and healthy ways to build you, your home and the children God has entrusted you with;
And staying watchful and prayerful, standing guard over your home and kids against the crafty devices of the enemy.
Your home and children are God’s gifts, so tend to your family well so every member can enjoy the blessedness of a home rooted in Christ.
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
